North India Weather: A wedding in Himachal Pradesh turned into a story of courage and determination as a groom walked through deep snow to reach his bride on time. The incident took place in Keoli Panchayat of Mandi district, where heavy snowfall had covered all roads, making vehicle movement impossible. With the wedding muhurat approaching and no clear route available, the groom decided to walk nearly seven kilometres through snow that was three to four feet deep.
Despite harsh weather conditions, he reached the bride’s home before the scheduled time and the wedding rituals were completed without delay. After the marriage, the groom and bride walked back together along the same snow-covered path to reach their home. Local residents said the groom had earlier used the same route on foot to visit his in-laws. The couple’s determination and calm attitude in extreme conditions earned praise from villagers, who called their journey inspiring.
This incident comes at a time when severe weather is affecting large parts of north India due to a strong western disturbance. Mountain states such as Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are witnessing widespread snowfall. At the same time, plains and north-western states including Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan are facing heavy rain and hailstorms. Strong winds blowing at speeds between 30 and 60 kilometres per hour have added to the difficulties.
In Uttar Pradesh, heavy rain was reported in Agra and six other districts, with intermittent showers continuing in several areas. Bagpat district also experienced hailstorms. Winds reaching around 30 kilometres per hour were reported in more than ten cities, causing disruption to daily life.
Madhya Pradesh has also come under the impact of the western disturbance. Rain was recorded in five districts, while weather alerts were issued for 28 districts. Farmers have expressed concern over possible crop damage, and officials are closely monitoring the situation.
Rajasthan saw hailstorms and rain in many districts, including Jaipur. The severe weather led to tragic incidents as well. A woman died after being struck by lightning in Sikar, while a young man lost his life in a similar incident in Kota. In Delhi-NCR, widespread rain was reported, prompting authorities to issue a red alert in the national capital. Residents were advised to step out only if necessary.
