Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy drew public attention on Monday by travelling in a state-run RTC bus along with senior leaders to watch the film Phule in Hyderabad. After the Assembly sessions concluded, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers, MLAs, and MLCs, boarded a specially arranged RTC bus from the Assembly premises and proceeded to Prasad Labs to view the movie.
The Chief Minister’s decision to use public transport for the journey stood out and sparked interest among political circles and the general public. Seeing several VVIPs travelling together in a single RTC bus, much like ordinary citizens, was viewed as a rare and symbolic gesture. During the ride, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was seen interacting casually with fellow ministers and legislators, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout the journey.
As the Chief Minister personally travelled by RTC bus, the police department arranged tight security along the route. Special precautions were taken to ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid inconvenience to the public. Officials confirmed that the journey was peaceful and concluded without any disruptions, highlighting coordinated planning between transport and security agencies.
The leaders travelled to watch Phule, a biographical film based on the life of social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and his wife Savitribai Phule. The movie portrays their lifelong struggle against caste discrimination and social oppression, while also highlighting their major role in promoting education and social equality. The film has been widely appreciated for presenting their sacrifices and reformist vision in a powerful and emotionally engaging manner.
Renowned filmmaker Anant Mahadevan directed Phule, handling the subject with sensitivity and depth. Actor Pratik Gandhi plays the role of Jyotirao Phule, while Patralekhaa Paul portrays Savitribai Phule. Their performances have received praise for their realism and emotional strength, adding impact to the narrative. Made in Hindi, the film was released on April 25, 2025, and has earned positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Sources close to the Chief Minister said that encouraging films based on social reform and historical awareness is important for building collective responsibility. They noted that when representatives come together to watch such films, it sends a message about the value of social consciousness and shared learning.
