Flamingo Festival 2026 to Be Held with Greater Grandeur at Pulicat Lake on January 10 and 11

The Flamingo Festival 2026 will be held on January 10 and 11 at Pulicat Lake with expanded programmes and stronger safety arrangements.

The Flamingo Festival 2026 will be organised on January 10 and 11 along the Pulicat Lake coast with greater scale and improved arrangements compared to last year, according to Tirupati District Collector S. Venkateshwar. The tourism festival, being conducted under the supervision of the Tirupati district administration, aims to attract a large number of visitors and showcase the natural beauty of Pulicat Lake at the national level.

To review the preparations, the District Collector, along with District SP L. Subbarayudu, Sullurupeta MLA Nelavala Vijayashree, and other senior officials, conducted an inspection tour on Wednesday. The team first visited the Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary and reviewed facilities being arranged for tourists and birdwatchers. Officials were instructed to ensure smooth movement of visitors while maintaining protection for migratory birds.

Later, the officials visited the BV Palem boating point, where the Collector reviewed safety measures related to boating and adventure activities. He instructed officials to strictly follow safety guidelines so that visitors can enjoy the festival without any risk.

At the Sullurupeta ZP High School grounds, District Collector S. Venkateshwar officially released the Flamingo Festival brochure. Speaking to the media, he said the main objective of the festival is to introduce Pulicat Lake’s unique ecosystem and scenic beauty to a wider audience across the country. He recalled that last year’s festival received appreciation from Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and said the same spirit has inspired officials to plan a more extensive event this year.

The Collector announced that, in addition to regular venues such as Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary, Atakanithippa, and BV Palem, special programmes will be organised this year at Ubbalamadugu Waterfalls and Irukkam Island. He also stated that a two-day workshop on biodiversity and environmental conservation will be conducted at Sri City under the guidance of the Bombay Natural History Society.

District SP L. Subbarayudu said that traffic regulation and security arrangements are being strengthened at all festival locations. He added that CCTV cameras and drone surveillance will be used to ensure safety and prevent inconvenience to visitors.

MLA Nelavala Vijayashree said the district administration is making all efforts to conduct the Flamingo Festival on a much grander scale than last year. She appealed to people to participate in large numbers and make the tourism event a success.

Officials also inspected the Atakanithippa Bird Centre, reviewing tourist facilities and bird protection measures. The Collector announced that free bus services will be provided for visitors from Nelapattu, Sullurupeta, and BV Palem during the festival.

Several officials, including Trainee Collector Sandeep Raghu Vanshi, DFO Srikanth, RDOs, municipal officials, tourism department representatives, forest and revenue staff, and public representatives, took part in the inspection.
